Uncle Jeff's reception

Mason wore the cutest outfit to his uncle Jeffrey's wedding reception.

Isn't he adorable?  The shirt came untucked almost immediately, and he had a cummerbund on at first, but it was way too big, and Mommy didn't have any safety pins or anything.

He was really really clingy most of the night though, unfortunately.  Lots of people he didn't know, and the reception started 30 minutes before bedtime.  Plus he had a really short nap that morning because Mommy and Daddy (mostly Daddy) were helping set up for the reception.

Later on in the evening he started playing tag around the faux fireplace in the corner with Grandpa Blake.
Then Grandpa caught him and wrestled him to the ground.

After these games, he began to have more fun.  When the dancing started, Grandma started dancing with him, and once he got the hang of it, he really liked it.  I don't have a picture unfortunately, it was really cute!  When Grandma had to go dance with Uncle Jeffrey, Mommy had to pry him off her fingers, and dance with him.  Then he learned how to spin, and decided he could dance by himself, so the only way we could dance with him after that was to pick him up.

At the end of the night, Mason was exhausted.  In fact, he and Mommy left after this last picture so he could go to bed.  They missed the part where the bride and groom drove off, but he needed his sleep.

Weddings are interesting!

Here is a quick video of Mommy trying to get Mason to dance with her like he did with Grandma.  Daddy forgot how the video works so it is sideways.

Uncle Jeff's wedding

So Mike's brother Jeff got married last Friday in Omaha at the Winter Quarters temple.  We decided to do a session before the wedding which meant leaving at 5:30.

We decided to wake Mason up right before we left, so after the car was all loaded, I got him up and carried him out still in his pj's.

I had hoped he would go back to sleep, but he decided it was an adventure! Uncle Jeremy was there and everything!

We stopped on the way and got him dressed.  I didn't get a picture of it, but something funny happened at the rest stop.  After he was dressed, I got him in the car, and went to move the cooler into the trunk because one of Mason's aunties had decided to switch cars.  I gave a banana to Uncle Jeremy to give to Mason, and he didn't think to peel it.  When next I looked, Mason had taken a big old bite out of the bottom. Peel and all. I laughed so hard I had trouble breathing.

When we got to Omaha, his aunties took him to the zoo while we were in the temple. They took lots of pictures of the animals.

They met us back at the temple after the wedding. It was cold, but Mason was wiggly.

Here are Jeff and his wife, Mason's new auntie Alexis!
This is the only photo with them and Mason that I have.
After the pictures, we went to a Mexican restaurant.  Mason was not sure about the food, but had fun with his cars.

Then he played climb on Mommy.

In case you can't tell, I'm starting to show.

He fell asleep in the car after lunch, and then rode in the back with Mommy all the way home.

Fashion show!

Auntie Amber over at the Paisley Cupcake, sent Mason this for Christmas, and I finally got around to taking pictures.  Enjoy the fashion show!

Look at that cute little foot!  I thought barefoot was the appropriate way to go.

 Mom, this is getting boring.

 I love you!

Snow Day!

It snowed last night!  Not a blizzard or anything, but several inches, the first real snow fall we've had this winter.  They closed schools and everything.  Actually, it doesn't take much to close school here, not compared to Idaho and Utah anyway.  So we decided to take Mason out in it.

It's the first time he's worn this outfit.  And I realized I didn't have any boots for him, so I put two pairs of socks on him and a pair of shoes that are a bit large.
Dad had fun taking funny pictures of Mason in his oh-so-comfortable (haha!) snow suit.
Mason was a bit cautious when we went outside.  He did step in the snow for a mintue, but then he freaked out and stuck to the sidewalk for the first part.
Daddy decided it would be a good idea to do a snow angel.  Mason didn't like that idea.
So Daddy showed him the fun of snow angels.
Mason took a few steps into the snow to see what his daddy was doing.
Giant snow balls!
Uncle Jeremy came out too, making piles of snow and throwing snow balls at Mason.
Then Mason finally overcame his concern about the snow, and waded right in.

And as a reward, Daddy and Uncle Jeremy buried him in the snow.  Woo-hoo!

Snow is fun!

Update on Mason

Mason is getting so stinking smart!  He's started opening doors, at least doors that he can push open, and he's starting to talk more and more every day.  He's a serious babbler, and I have a feeling he'll be a jabbermouth as soon as he can really talk.  Some of the things he can say are "thank you" "doggie" "mommy" "daddy" "kitty" and "I did it!"  I think he said "Auntie" the other day too.

He has done some interesting things recently.  For example, he learned months ago how to plug and unplug the bathtub.  We just use a flat plug because our tub doesn't have plug hardware.  Anyway, he loves to put in on and he always lets the water out when he's done taking a bath.  But lately he's started doing something really smart, way too smart actually.  I usually had to take out the plug to adjust the water temperature, and then put it back on.  Well, the last couple of weeks, he has been waiting to put it down until the water is the right temperature. He's even been putting his hand under the faucet to feel the temperature the way I do.  Very cute!

Mason's auntie April, and I took him to the movie theater the other day to see Beauty and the Beast 3-D.  It was interesting, he'd never been to the movies before.  When we got there, the screen was blank, and the room was dark.  He was bored and frustrated and started fussing.  Right about the time we got him calmed down, the movie started and scared him pretty bad, because it was loud.  April and I were laughing hysterically, poor boy.  He calmed down pretty quickly though, and enjoyed the movie until about part way through when he got annoyed with the glasses and kept taking them off.  We ended up leaving early because of that, but I want to take him to a matinee sometime which is not 3-D.  He liked the big screen, but 3-D was not a good idea with an 18 month old, and 7:30 pm was too late also, that's his normal bedtime.

Mason turned 18 months old last Saturday, which means he gets to go to nursery at church.  It was a relief in a way, he's been so wiggly and can't sit still much.  He would sit still pretty well in sacrament meeting most of the time, especially because we usually sat in a bench and he couldn't go running off.  I haven't been to Sunday School in months though, because by that point he is too restless.  Then he would go with me to Relief Society or with Mike to Elder's Quorum.  He was pretty good most of the time, but he needed to go to nursery.

Mike dropped him off the first time, we figured it would be easier that way.  He cried until they broke down and gave him a car to play with.  Then he was fine.  I had spies check on him every once in a while and I peeked in on him at play time.  He was confused by the singing time activities, but seemed to enjoy the playtime.  Afterwards, while we were waiting for a meeting I was having, he started playing with some other kids in the foyer.  Seems that nursery has given him a bit more interest in socializing already.

I cried.  I was sitting in Sunday School crying into a tissue about how he wasn't supposed to be so old.  My baby is growing way too fast.
